Suns On Top Of NBA Power Rankings

Phoenix is on an incredible run, passing talented Dallas

Dallas has the best record, but Phoenix is clearly the hottest team in all of sports and again tops Suite101's NBA Power Rankings.

  1. Phoenix Suns (31-8) -- How can a team that has won 28 of its last 30 not be on top of our NBA Power Rankings? NBA MVP candidate Steve Nash has the Suns clicking and looking unbeatable.
  2. Dallas Mavericks (33-8) – Only in the wacky world of the NBA can a team with the best record in the league be second in the NBA Power Rankings. If we could make it a virtual tie between Dallas and Phoenix, we would.
  3. San Antonio Spurs (28-13) -- The Spurs are 5-5 in their last 10 games, but on record and potential, they still earn the 3 spot in our NBA rankings.
  4. Utah Jazz (27-14) -- Three straight wins, and Utah jumps back into our NBA Power Rankings top 5.
  5. Los Angeles Lakers (26-15) -- Kobe Bryant is on fire, and his teammates, too, are burning up the league.
  6. Houston Rockets (25-16) -- The Rockets are on a three-game skid, but Houston is still 6-4 in its last 10 contests.
  7. Washington Wizards (24-16) -- Gilbert Arenas and Caron Butler continue elevating their games, and the Wizards keep winning.
  8. Cleveland Cavaliers (24-16) -- The Cavaliers were a disappointing 3-4 in a west-coast trip, which didn't include Dallas, Houston or the Los Angeles Lakers. LeBron James, Suite101's newest NBA MVP leader, is playing his best basketball, though, and Cleveland is on top of the Central Division.
  9. New Jersey (20-20) -- The Nets debut in our NBA Power Rankings, even though New Jersey is only at .500. High-flying New Jersey, though, has won 8 of 10, including impressive wins at Chicago and home to Orlando.
  10. Detroit Pistons (23-16) -- Detroit won its first two games with newly-acquired Chris Webber, looking very solid in his hometown return.
