Background: Andre Miller's story starts at the University of Utah where he led the Utes to the 1998 NCAA Championship game against Kentucky. Miller recorded a rare triple-double in the tournament that caught the eye of every NBA scout and helped him become the 8th overall pick by the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Andre Miller grew quickly as he put up impressive numbers in his rookie season. He averaged 11.1 points and 5.8 assists per game which earned him an All-Rookie selection.
In the following years Miller proved he had more potential to develop as he improved on both those averages.
Early NBA: In 2002 the Cavaliers traded Miller to the Los Angeles Clippers, who then traded him to the Denver Nuggets. Miller found life very comfortable in Denver as he helped them climb back to the NBA elite. During this time Miller showed his high work ethic, versatility, and durability.
In December of 2006 Miller was traded to Philadelphia 76ers for Allen Iverson. The 76ers are now reaping the benefits of Miller's work ethic and versatility as they work towards claiming another Eastern Conference title after a short rebuilding period in which Miller will be the expected leader.
NBA Highlights: Aside from his work ethic, Andre Miller's durability is an asset most teams admire. During his seven years in the NBA Miller has only missed three games. The 76ers are hoping that Miller will be a good role model for the young talent they are expecting to bring in over the next year or two.
